James Cameron Is Trying To Revive Neil Blomkamp's 'Aliens' Sequel

James Cameron recently teased that Neill Blomkamp's shelved Aliens sequel may be coming back to life after all. Also read: 'X-Men' Producer Says Too Many Marvel Films Will 'Cancel Each Other Out' While the Alien franchise may be one of the cornerstones of his career with his involvement in the second film in the franchise, James Cameron has not directly been involved with the series since Aliens in 1986. However, the director recently teased that he may indeed be looking to return to this world with director Neill Blomkamp. While doing press for the upcoming manga adaptation from director Robert Rodriguez titled Alita: Battle Angel, which the Aliens director wrote and produced, James Cameron spoke with IGN and was asked towards the end if, once he's finished working with Tim Miller on the upcoming Terminator film, if he would give Neill Blomkamp a call about the Aliens franchise. Neill Blomkamp, as you know, has for the longest time been rumored to be working on an Aliens film for his next project. Much to the chagrin of many Neill Blomkamp fans, that untitled Aliens sequel was shelved due to the release of Alien: Covenant back in 2017. This is what Cameron had to say on the subject. "I'm working on that."
